Your dates are yours.

The short version

Dear Dates is made and operated by Podcrash Limited. The app works entirely on your device. There is no account to create, no analytics, and nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose to turn on online backup, sync or family sharing.

What stays on your device

• Every date you add, along with its kind, the year it started, notes, memories and the people attached to it.
• Your settings, including which dates count, which reminders are on, and what you call the people in your life.
• Reminders. They are scheduled by the phone itself, so no server needs to know when a date is coming up.

Deleting the app deletes this data. We can't recover it for you, because we never had it.

If you turn on sync

Online backup, sync across devices and family sharing are an optional subscription. To use them you sign in with a six-digit code sent to your email address. There is no password.

• We store your email address so we can send you a sign-in code and know which dates belong to you.
• Your dates are stored on our servers so they can be restored to a new device or shared with the family members you invite.
• Changes made offline are queued on your device and sent when you are back online.

Turning sync off stops new changes being sent. You can ask us to delete everything we hold for your email address at any time; see Support.

Payments

Subscriptions are handled by the App Store or Google Play. We do not see your card details. Apple's and Google's own privacy policies apply to the purchase itself.

What we don't do

• No analytics or usage tracking.
• No advertising, and no sharing of your data with advertisers or data brokers.
• No selling of personal data, ever.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
